Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on the 22nd of November 1985 in New York City New York) is a star who has been praised for her performance abilities in a variety of various genres from period dramas to thrillers to action adventures. Johansson daughter of an architect and producer was brought up as a child in New York City. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest siblings of four. When she was seven, she was already casting for TV commercials. Then she began her studies at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and later attended the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to further hone her craft. In the age of eight, she appeared with Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry and, at the age of nine she made her feature debut with Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson made her debut in Just Cause, but she gained recognition through Manny & Lo, a movie about a family of orphans who escape. Her next film won critical acclaim for her role as one of the teens who is injured in a disfiguring accident within The Horse Whisperer (1998) and she gained further attention in the role of a cynical teenager Rebecca as Rebecca in Ghost World (2001).
